Members Work Across the Aisle on Energy Efficiency

The Evangelical Environmental Network is pleased to support the recently bipartisan introduced Energy Savings and Industrial Competitiveness Act (ESIC).  The legislation sponsored by Senators Rob Portman (R-OH) and Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) with cosponsors including Senators Michael Bennet (D-CO), Susan Collins (R-ME), Chris Coons (D-DE), Al Franken (D-MN), Joe Manchin (D-WV), Mark Warner (D-VA), and Roger Wicker (R-MS).

For EEN and our millions of pro-life supporters who understand “Creation Care Is A Matter of Life,” energy efficiency is the most effective way to both reduce pollution that threatens our children’s heath, increases our energy security, create jobs, and save money.  The benefits of this legislation make it a win-win for all America, and we are thankful for the leadership of these members.

“This bill will reduce air pollution, defend our children while at the same time create hundreds of thousands of jobs, and save consumers over $16.2 billion according to an American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) study,” said EEN’s President Rev. Mitch Hescox, “ESIC demonstrates the power in working across the aisle – something we want to see happen more often. It also proves that defending our kids from pollution and building our economy can happen simultaneously,” Hescox continued.

We urge the entire Senate to take-up ESIC and move it to the House so we all can benefit from a solid energy efficiency policy.  Thank you, Senators Portman, and Shaheen.
