Pro-Life Christians Support Supreme Court Decision That Protects the Unborn From Mercury Pollution

A Statement by The Rev. Mitchell C. Hescox, President/C.E.O of the Evangelical Environmental Network

Today Chief Justice Roberts rejected a plea to stay the Mercury and Air Toxics Standard (MATS) (click here for a news report). “We pleased with Justice Robert’s action to defend our children,” said Rev. Mitch Hescox, President of the Evangelical Environmental Network (EEN).  “For over ten years EEN and numerous other pro-life Christian ministries and individuals worked tirelessly to protect our unborn children from the brain threatening impacts of mercury poisoning.  As many as 1 in 6 children are impacted because of mercury poisoning inside a mother’s womb.  This decision today is a victory for life.”

“As pro-life evangelicals, we have a special concern for the unborn.  We want children to be born healthy and unhindered by the ravages of pollution, pollution that impacts them even before they take their first breath.  This Supreme Court ruling will help keep our children safe from pollution.”
