Senate Stands Strong for Land and Water Conservation

Statement by Rev. Mitch Hescox:

Yesterday the U.S. Senate introduced bipartisan legislation to permanently reauthorize the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF). Senator Richard Burr (R-NC) is teaming up with Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA) in this critical work. Senator Burr (R-NC) in particular recognizes the fiscally conservative nature of LWCF and has long been a champion for stewardship, we urge fellow conservative Senators to join Senator Burr in supporting LWCF reauthorization.

Pro-life Christians have supported the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF).  Over it's 50-plus year history, LWCF has helped our country protect land in all 50 states, and is responsible for more than 40,000 state and local outdoor recreation projects, which include playgrounds, urban parks, refuges, and baseball fields. The revenue for LWCF comes from royalties paid by energy companies for being able to drill on the Outer Continental Shelf. Congress needs to permanently re-authorize this effort that doesn't cost taxpayers a dime.

EEN has mobilized over 300,000 pro-life Christians to defend LWCF. You can learn more about our work here
