A Personal Greeting from the President & CEO

Dear Friend,

I just want to extend to you my heartfelt greetings as you explore our web site. Here at EEN and Creation Care magazine our purpose - based on the Word of God - is to "declare the Lordship of Christ over all creation" (see Col. 1:15-20; Jn 1:1-4; Heb. 1:2-3).  All of us at EEN personally confess Jesus Christ to be our Savior and Lord.  Colossians 1:20 proclaims something wonderful and profound - that the blood of our Savior Jesus has not only reconciled us as individuals to God, but has in fact reconciled all of creation to God. Isn't that incredible! And one of the more exciting parts is that we are called to participate by being ministers of Christ's reconciliation (2 Cor. 5:18). Our job here at EEN and Creation Care magazine is to help our brothers and sisters in Christ as well as society at large understand the fullness of Christ's reconciliation, and help everyone live lives of reconciliation.  The problems we seek to address are serious, but through the power of the grace given freely to us by Jesus Christ they are joyous opportunities to show forth his love in our lives.

Please let us know how we can be of service to you by contacting us at een@creationcare.org. If you do not currently receive Creation Care magazine, we'd love to send you a free copy. Sign up for one today. If you believe in our ministry, pray for us. Also consider joining EEN by becoming an individual member and financial supporter of EEN. You can do so by calling us at 1-800-650-6600.  We need your support to sustain this important and exciting ministry.  Without the support we receive from individual contributors our ministry would not be able to continue.

Thank you for all that you do to further Christ's reconciliation of all of creation - and let us know what you are doing!

Friends through Christ,

Rev. Jim Ball, Ph.D.
President & CEO

P.S. Why don't you tell a friend about us?

About Jim Ball

Jim was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in 1961 and grew up in Richardson, Texas, a suburb of Dallas. His parents, Guy Ball and Billie Jean Ball, grew up in McComb, Mississippi. When he was 13 years old Jim was baptized and made his first public confession that Jesus Christ is his Savior and Lord. At 19 Jim received his call from God to become a minister of the gospel.  In 1983 he graduated from Baylor University in Waco, Texas, with a BA in Psychology.  Jim attended Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, and graduated with a Master of Divinity degree in 1987. He worked his way through seminary as a houseparent a St. Joseph Children's Home in Louisville, and was also coordinator of the Crescent Hill Baptist Church Peacemaker group. From 1988-90 he was Minister of Christian Education at the First Baptist Church of Beloit, Wisconsin, where he was ordained in 1989.  In 1990 Jim began graduate studies at Drew University in Madison, New Jersey.  That same year he met a fellow student, Bonnie Gisel, who helped him understand that Christ's reconciliation included all of creation.  In 1994 he began serious research on environmental problems, with a special emphasis on global warming. Jim's dissertation at Drew focused on how evangelicals have responded to the ecological crisis. In May 1997 he received his Ph.D. in theological ethics from Drew.  From 1995-97 Jim taught in the Religion department at Montclair State University.  His years of research on global warming resulted in a primer for Christians on the subject published by Evangelicals for Social Action in 1998 entitled Planting a Tree This Afternoon: Global Warming, Public Theology, and Public Policy. Before becoming Executive Director of EEN in January 2000, Jim worked as the Climate Change Policy Coordinator for the Union of Concerned Scientists in Washington, DC. He is an active member of Riverside Baptist Church in Washington.

Jim enjoys spiritual jogging, birding and spending time outdoors, going to museums and movies, and listening to jazz and classical music as he reads. He is an unreformed news junkie and fan of the TV series Law and Order.  He claims to have seen almost every episode at least twice.  Since he was eight years old Jim has been a die-hard fan of the Dallas Cowboys - even after Jerry Jones dumped Tom Landry and hired that other guy who quit the Dolphins. Jim and his wonderful wife Kara live in Brunswick, Maryland, with their dog Mugsy, cats Spit, Queen Emma, and Midnite, and Iggy the Iguana.
