Today, leaders in Senate introduced a bill that will help national parks through a 21 percent increase in funding! We are so thankful for Chairman Barrasso (R-WY), Ranking Member Carper (D-DE), and the entire Environment and Public Works Committee for addressing the backlog of transportation projects in our country.
America’s Transportation Infrastructure Act is surface transportation bill that will provide for updates and repairs on roads, bridges, and transportation systems in national parks. This is great news for the National Park Service’s $11.9 billion maintenance backlog, half of which is composed of transportation needs. Transportation funding is essential for visitor safety and enjoyment in all of our national parks for generations to come.
Over 200,000 pro-life Christians have called on their elected officials to “to protect our parks and federal lands, add new ones, and ensure funding so that every American can enjoy the beauty of God's creation.” Today, leaders in the Senate are living up to that calling. We urge all Members of Congress to support this bill as well the other bipartisan efforts to restore national parks and address the deferred maintenance backlog.
